据我所知，你至少有17封信说我的嘴巴像樱桃，还有至少19封信说我的眼睛像香蕉。我无法忍受你这烂白菜似的比喻了！记得你在给我的第一封情书中，居然说我的腿修长得像一只花脚蚊子。我正告你，如果你还不能写好一封情书，那么我会让你的请求像中东和谈一样悬而不决，这一切后果将由你自负……

读完信，迈尔斯像一只蔫黄瓜似的没了精神，他又害羞又气恼。然而当务之急是回信，回信！
可怜的迈尔斯绞尽了脑汁绞干了汁，可就是不知道再怎么提笔给姑娘写回信。突然他惊喜地想起，前天，老父亲曾经郑重地将一本珍藏已久的书送给他，对他说：“孩子，现在是时候了，这本书会教会你如何给心爱的姑娘写情书。”
